The Construction and Mechanism of Stiletto Knives

A stiletto is a slender, pointed shoe or boot with straight heel and an elongated toe cap, typically used as an evening or formal dress shoe. It has been described as being "the most lethal" type of shoe. Stiletto knives are designed with a longer shaft and blade. The blade is relatively thin, making it suitable for stabbing, thrusting, or slashing. It is an Italian word meaning "small heel", which refers to the tool's pointed tip.   Today’s stilettos are generally recognized as being 10-12 inches long and weigh approximately 5oz (140g) total weight of the blade and handle. Their design includes a hollow handle that supports both the sheath and main body enabling them to be worn on one’s belt or placed in an ankle sheath such as a boot top.   Stiletto tools vary widely in blade design and length, but typically have a thin blade that curves inward toward the handle.
